This is a beautifully illustrated book, I so enjoyed looking at all the patterns in there for these little babies, nothing like knitting baby things. Other knitters will understand that.

There are whole outfits to hats and mittens.

I especially loved the little sleeveless pullover, I remember using that pattern on an adult jumper I knitted for one of my brothers many years ago.

This is a book I will be keeping and constantly referring to.

There are several patterns that I plan to use in the immediate future and some that may be used later on down the road. The presentation of the patterns i.e the layout is not as professional as I thought it might be and I haven't knitted any of the garments yet so I couldn't say for certain how well they can be made up. There is not a parent anywhere who doesn't absolutely love a hand-knitted gift for their new baby. For a good-sized collection of (mostly) simple knitting projects for babies and toddlers, look no further than "One-Skein Wonders for Babies." For a good-sized collection of (mostly) simple knitting projects for babies and toddlers, look no further than "One-Skein Wonders for Babies." This collection, edited by Judith Durant, features 101 fun knitting projects for the little ones in your life. There are a wide variety of ideas in this book: the usual hats, booties, and blankets; shirts and pants; dresses; jackets for all ages; and even a selection of stuffed animals and other snuggly toys. There are practical items, like the Bath Toy Hammock, and even Mom's Stress Reducer (since parenting is hard sometimes!). The patterns are all clearly written with enough detail to walk knitters of any experience level through, and there are plenty of photographs showing what the finished projects look like. And the best part? Each project uses a relatively small amount of yarn, meaning that none of them are expensive, and many can easily be made out of the stash a dedicated knitter already has at home! One bothersome inclusion is the Car Seat-Friendly Baby Sack, which seems like a cute idea but is, in reality, very dangerous to use on a baby buckled into a car seat. That project aside, most of this book is filled with cute projects to challenge knitters of all levels.

I love getting preview copies of craft books. This is a great one with a wide variety of baby projects to knit and has all skill levels. From Blankets, toys and clothes you can choose your project. I love any kind of knitting book that can provide projects using one skein of yarn. I have lots of one here, one there of yarn. I made a baby hat for my charity group and it turned out great.

Knitted the "Fat Kitty" pattern for my niece. Some cute patterns and a good way to use up stash. Great patterns and stitch guides

Easy to read and the directions are simple to comprehend. Love the projects. A great selection of patterns provided, as well.

I received this book from the publisher for review.
Adorable, cute, fun, modern, colourful. Just a few words that spring to mind once you open the covers of this book. I seriously had a hard time to pick a favourite project. Alas, pick one I did and let me tell you, it's the fat kitty. it's just to cuddly cute and I will have to make one for myself!
A close runner up was the graphic kitty, though.

A close runner up was the graphic kitty, though.

The book itself is has a great layout. I love that the patterns are sorted by what part of the body they go on, or what they are for (clothes, toys, accessories, although I am not sure how many accessories a baby really needs....., blankets, and miscellaneous). This way you have an easier time to find a pattern.
The patterns themselves are easy to follow and well written. I specially like the "pattern essentials" boxes. Some patterns may have a stitch in it, that is just a little on this side of basic, so it is explained in the little box and the knitter can make up his or her mind, if they would like to bother with it, instead of finding out three fourths through the project.

I, myself, am past the childbearing stage of my life, but a whole gaggle of friends is starting to have theirs now. So I dared to grab some yarn and needles and cast on fearlessly. After one sad baby shoe was done, I figured I had the wrong yarn, gave up and sewed something instead. TOTAL USER ERROR!!! The pattern could not have been more detailed explained! My yarn choice, however much well meant (cashmere blend), was less than well thought through for a textural pattern.

I really, really love the colours chosen for the samples in the book. They are simply happy! Not all super bright and "childish" but super happy colours. Happy can SO be sophisticated.

Personally I would have liked a few more sample phtotos, or maybe bigger ones? I am such a sucker for good photography in any pattern book, or catalogue. I don't think I am the only one. Apart from that, I really enjoyed looking through the book, checking out the patterns, finding out what today's Mom's think is hip and remembering when my children were little babies. I definitely recommend this book as almost all the others in the one skein series, to any knitter, Mom, dad, or grandma, aunt, uncle, best friend out there.

Recommends it for: knitters
Like the other One-Skein books, this one has a variety of patterns from a large number of designers. The design of the book is excellent--each pattern has a photograph, full information on supplies (including yarn weight, yardage, material, and gauge), written and charted stitch directions, and a schematic with measurements. The majority of patterns are single-sized and for infants, with a few having multiple sizes or for toddlers. There are a couple of mommy and me patterns, and a number of toy Like the other One-Skein books, this one has a variety of patterns from a large number of designers. There are a couple of mommy and me patterns, and a number of toys with some accessories thrown in.

The book is broken into sections of baby sets, bottoms, tops/sweaters, dresses, hats, toys, and other items such as blankets. The information provided makes it easy to substitute yarns and directions are accessible for those who prefer written or charted instructions. The back of the book has a short glossary of techniques as well as information about the designers who contributed to the book.

Many of the patterns use sock weight yarn, frequently 100 gram skeins. However, there are patterns that use heavier and lighter weight yarns as well, going up to worsted weight and down to lace weight. While a few of the patterns require additional supplies or special techniques, most are fairly straightforward. The sheer number means that there is something for everyone, and patterns such as the hot water bottle cozy and the eye stress-reliever pillow can be made for those without children as well. Even many of the blankets could be adapted and made larger to create throws for adults or older children.

While I received a free review copy from NetGalley, I have no reservations recommending this book for any knitter's library.

I think that I have read all the books in the One-Skein Wonders series and I always want to love them but often find the patterns disappointing. I have yet to cast-on a project from the previously published book.

However, (as with most knitting books for babies and young children) the cutest patterns are projects for girls. As a mother of two boys, this book fails in offering a variety of show-stopping clothing pieces for boys.

Note that many of the clothing patterns call for finer gauge yarns (fingering and sock yarns). This is not a criticism, just an observation as many knitters have preferred gauges.

As with the previous books in the One Skein series, the instructions are very clear and the layout of the book is organized and easy to follow.

Sometimes knitters have an odd ball of yarn which isn't enough to make a big project, but a smaller one is needed. That's where this book is useful! The range of projects is extensive, including accessories, clothes, blankets, and of course baby items which as a smaller product suit using 1 skein.

I did a cute baby bootie! I didn't note down the pattern name because I thought I'd still be able to access it when I wrote the review. Unfortunately I've gone into the program and unlike novels appare

I did a cute baby bootie! I didn't note down the pattern name because I thought I'd still be able to access it when I wrote the review. Unfortunately I've gone into the program and unlike novels apparently there was an expiry date so I no longer have this wonderful book. I will look to buy it in the future!

The instructions are easy to use with large pictures so I had a good idea of what the finished product looked like. The ribbed effect meant I knitted the equivalent of two socks in one, so it took a fair amount of time to do. I'm not sure I'd use this particular pattern again, but I would look at some of the more complex patterns in the future.

This book is chock full of cute, adorable and doable patterns for babies and toddlers. Because only one to three skeins of yarn are usually involved (depending on if the suggested yarn is used or a substituted yarn), the garments are relatively inexpensive to make. And there is a wide range of them, from toys, to bath gear, to mittens. to sweaters and many other baby and toddler things. Lots of really great ideas in this book.

The patterns are clearly written and the illustrations are lovely. A wonderful book to have if you plan on doing any baby/toddler knitting.

Small projects that work up fast are favorites with many knitters, myself included. This is a great addition to the One-Skein series of books. It seemed that the projects may be for the more experienced knitter, but the instructions are straightforward and the photos definitely help in construction of these perfect little gifts. Recommended.

The pictures of all these baby items are just gorgeous. I don't really see much for the beginning knitter but for the more experienced, there is plenty. There are beautiful blankets, cute clothing items, and toys too! There is more than enough to keep the knitter in you occupied for quite some time.

What fun with all those spare balls of wool. There are beanies, vests and even some rugs and all of them different and ever so cute. One ball is so quick to knit up and they make some lovely gifts for the babies in your life.
The patterns are well written and fairly simple to do for a beginner.
